Podcast hosting is difficult: you have to create an RSS feed, a webpage and you must be able to serve audio files to a huge number of clients on your release date.
That's why we integrated the popular podcast hoster Libsyn (Liberated Syndication) as an external service in Auphonic. It's a great tool for file hosting and automatic RSS feed generation after processing and encoding your productions with Auphonic – you can even record your podcast with the Auphonic App and publish it with Libsyn immediately! :)

About Libsyn

We are happy to launch Auphonic for iOS today. With the Auphonic Mobile App you can record audio or video and upload it to the Auphonic servers for post production. It further allows you to view, edit and manage your productions, presets and mobile recordings.

You can download the App from the Apple App Store.

UPDATE: we released a new iOS App in 2016!

We have also made our application open source. Feel free to report issues, send pull requests or just check out the source on GitHub: Auphonic Mobile.

There is a whole lot of things ...

Do you want to process huge amounts of audio or video files in one single step?
That's why we built the new Auphonic Batch Production Interface!
It allows you to start multiple productions with an existing Preset and can be used for file-based, automated batch processing of audio file collections.

UPDATE:
Please see Managed Processing of Audio and Video Archives for bigger datasets, customization and dedicated hardware.

Step 1: Select Preset and Files

First you have to select multiple input files and one preset. A preset stores common metadata, output file formats, outgoing file transfers and algorithm settings ...

We are very proud to release version one of the Auphonic audio post processing web API. This is a complete REST API to all our algorithms and functionality, for example:

This summer, we proudly released three important new features: video support, YouTube export for audio/video and the SoundCloud integration!
These features make it possible to use Auphonic for the automatic deployment of podcasts, screencasts, recordings, etc. to multiple platforms - see External Services.

The combination of SoundCloud and Auphonic provides a complete package for podcast post production, hosting, RSS feed generation and more.
Furthermore, the YouTube export function allows you to increase your audience through YouTube's content discovery mechanism, including listeners that you could not reach through a podcast RSS feed.

All file metadata, images and chapter marks ...

Because of so many requests we decided to release a preliminary version of our noise reduction algorithms. They are deactivated by default and you can activate them now in the production or preset form.
Additionally we included the possibility to enable or disable all auphonic audio algorithms :)

(poster from the movie Noise)

Current State of the Auphonic Noise Reduction Algorithms

The noise reduction algorithms are developed to remove constant background noise, hiss and hum in audio files with slowly varying backgrounds, such as lecture/conference recordings, static podcasts, etc.
They analyze the audio file, classify regions with different ...

For those who don't know it yet: we opened the auphonic automatic audio post production web service for the general public!
This means that everyone can create a free account and use the system for the post production of podcasts, audio books, lecture recordings, screencasts, or whatever you want. Please let us know what you think and tell us your feature requests!

Current Audio Algorithms

Only a subset of the auphonic algorithms are activated at the moment, focusing on loudness and level management. Furthermore we filter unnecessary and disturbing frequencies, but ...

Last weekend, 15. + 16. October 2011, the first austrian podcast barcamp (#pccvie) took place in the charming sektor5 coworking space in Vienna. We had really inspiring discussions with many local podcasters and technicians, for some detailed reports in german see Podcastcamp 2001 by Nico Grienauer and Podcast Barcamp: Ein tweetiger und booiger Rückblick by Robert Lender.
I just want to add some thoughts to the discussion about enhanced podcasts and will list some practical tools.

Enhanced Podcasts

It seems that more and more podcasters try to create enhanced podcasts, where additional metadata like chapter marks, hyperlinks or images, ...

After a long, nice summer and few blog posts, it is time to present the current team behind auphonic. At the moment we are two core developers and maintain strong collaborations with three institutions here in Graz.

UPDATE: please see About Us for the latest version!

Some weeks ago I presented auphonic to the advisory board of the Science Park Graz, the local version of the Austrian incubator network AplusB.
Fortunately I am happy to announce, that the jury enjoyed the project and therefore auphonic is now part of the Science Park.

What are incubators?

AplusB (Academia plus Business) is the Austrian hightech incubator network. These incubators are linked to academic institutions, in my case the universities in Graz, and they support the development of technology-based projects for a period of 1.5 years.

Here a more detailed (and little bit cryptic) self-definition from the ...
